I'm Dr. Shea, and my role is not to replace your management experience. I'm here to fill that gap when antibiotics are needed, with respect for the expertise you bring.

Immediate help
A video call is scheduled so I can see what's going on in your hives. Once completed, I can arrange for a 14-day emergency supply of antibiotics to be sent to your supplier the same day. Note: VFDs cannot be written until a physical visit of the yard occurs.

Yard visit within 2 weeks.
I come to your yard to complete the in-person inspection California law requires. After that, I can continue to write prescriptions and VFDs for up to a year without a return visit.

When antibiotics are medically appropriate, I can provide the prescription or VFD needed to treat.
At this time, I do not provide general consulting on nutrition, husbandry, production, hive management, or queens.
European Foulbrood (EFB)
Managed with antibiotics and correction of underlying stressors.
American Foulbrood (AFB)
Clinical hives are destroyed. Antibiotics may be used in exposed colonies to limit spread.
Scope of services
I provide diagnosis and treatment support for suspected European foulbrood and American foulbrood.
When antibiotics are medically appropriate, I can provide the prescription or VFD needed to treat.
